Finding Closure – Erin R. Flynn

I’ve enjoyed this series. Interesting characters, imaginative world building, a nice balance between the outer story - one outnumbered supernatural against a messed-up world - and the inner story - one outnumbered supernatural and numerous romantic interests. I assume that anyone who got to book 26 found the series enjoyable.

Book 26 is the last book of the series. All the main stories have been told, all the main challenges have been overcome. What’s left is wrap-up - book-length epilogue. It feels as if the author is writing fan fiction set in her own universe. The final i’s are dotted and the final t’s are crossed. (Spoiler: The protagonist graduates.)

Book 26 was satisfying, in the sense of providing the three hundred pages of closure promised on the cover, but there weren’t three hundred pages of story left to be told. I’m glad I read this last book, but I miss the excitement and discovery that the early books in the series brought.
