Koyuki, the Necromancing Foxkin – Aetam

Koyuki has an extremely-powerful necromantic talent, which gets her freedom in exchange for a stint in the army. So far, she has made it to the second year of a military academy. The pace is leisurely - slice of military/academic/necromantic life interspersed with attempts on her life. (Extremely powerful, as in politically consequential.)

I’m enjoying this. The pace is good, and the author is having fun with the characters. Koyuki’s progress is a bit too smooth - both in the sense of obstacles being resolved easily and in the sense of the academy letting her get away with pretty-much anything - so there isn’t much narrative tension.
